THE HUEY - Our Club Newsletter

Every year volunteer lifesavers give up their own time to patrol our beaches.  They help thousands of people each summer, preventing them from getting into serious trouble in our waters.

But that’s not all there is to Pacific Palms SLSC—whatever your age, interests or fitness level, there’s a membership just for you.

NIPPERS
From 5—14 years, boys and girls can join our Nipper program and learn surf safety skills that may save their lives.  Our Nippers have lots of fun and make lots of friends on Elizabeth Beach each Sunday from October to March each year.
Nippers can compete in surf carnivals held locally and in other areas.

LIFESAVERS
From 14 years up, we’ll train you in rescue techniques, first aid, resuscitation, radio operation etc.  Our experienced patrol members will guide you on your journey to becoming a qualified lifesaver and performing this vital community service.  And along the way you’ll make lifelong friends, improve your fitness and obtain skills that will be useful in all areas of your life.

Lifesavers can compete in surf carnivals held locally, in other centres and even overseas—some competition areas are surf boat rowing, swimming, board and ski paddling, beach sprints and flags and ironperson. We have qualified coaches to teach you the skills—and the rest is up to you!

AWARD MEMBERS
If you’d like to participate in beach patrols but are not a strong swimmer, join as an Award Member and learn first aid, resuscitation and radio operation.  You’ll be a vital part of our beach patrols assisting our lifesavers keep our beaches safe, as well as learning skills you can use in all areas of your life.

ASSOCIATE MEMBERS
If you don’t wish to be involved in beach patrols, join as an Associate Member.  This entitles you to use the showers, toilets and gym, have a cup of coffee on the deck and you can also train for some awards eg first aid and resuscitation.

PARENT MEMBERS
This membership category is for parents of Nippers.  It entitles you to use the clubhouse and showers and toilets on Sunday mornings during Nippers.  Our Junior Activities Committee welcomes assistance from parents, whether setting up the shade tent, bringing gear down to the beach or becoming an Age Manager and joining in the fun with the Nippers.

Whatever membership category you choose, be part of the family of Pacific Palms Surf Club and enjoy good company and social activities at our fantastic location on Elizabeth Beach.
